Off and on for over 30 years, our church St. Mark Presbyterian has had the ABC Sale (cleaning out Attics, Basements, Closets). Several blogs and videos have been done over the years featuring the sale. For items in 2011, click here. For information on the 2008 ABC Sale, click here and here.
So, here is our 2012 ABC Sale. We open today July 13 from 7-2 and tomorrow July 14 8-1. We seem to have a number of interesting Asian artifacts including the portfolio Alice is straightening with 10 Japanese wood block prints of Kyoto.
We also have quite a few Boyd's Bears, designer clothes.
A beautiful Duncan Phyfe Dining Room table and chairs as well as an ornate old bed.
Other prints that are in demand are some Iris botanicals and more Asian, Malaysian prints below.
We seem to be a bit lighter on the books giving Joan a chance to sit down. But, she wasn't the only one I found resting after 5 days of sorting and pricing.
Friends often ask what we charge, so here is the price list for clothes.
Next Spring, our ladies are having a luncheon which will be focused on recycling. We have all been asked to wear something which we bought at the ABC Sale or a thrift shop. Julie has had a great time pulling ensembles together.
Some of the ladies below who have worked tirelessly sorting and hanging hundreds if not thousands of clothing items that have come in.
We always seem to have a lot of Christmas and holiday items,
And toys (someone DID dress all of those naked dolls)
The ladies in Housewares are always so cheerful and agreeable---we love visiting them each day looking for treasures for the Boutique. They hardly ever grumble that we are skimming off the "good stuff".
These photos were taken 3 days after this blog. You might want to compare the photos and, yes, everything is cleaned up for Saturday and Sunday worship.
Suppose one could say that dressing the Barbies is a very Presbyterian thing to do - it is scriptural after all, Matthew 25:36 !
