God of righteousness, you overcome those who abuse their power and lift up those who suffer. Even now, when evil seems to hold sway, we know you will have the last word. Keep us faithful as we wait and watch for your coming realm, when you will welcome all your children into your kingdom of justice, peace, and love. Amen.

We lift up our eyes to you, O Lord our God,

as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master.

Have mercy upon us, O Lord, have mercy upon us.

Help us to walk in the light as you are in the light.

Come! Let us worship our God together.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

 

Almighty God, you show us the ways of justice and nurture us with love, but we do not live according to your will. We cling to fear and forget to trust in your deliverance. We are hungry for power and privilege and forget your commandment to care for one another. Have mercy on us, Lord, for we are weak and prone to disobedience. Hear our confession, and respond with kindness, that we might turn to you again and walk with you in the light. We pray all of this in Jesus’ name. (Silent Confession)
