Day 17, The Soundboard – Dale Weir
Sitting in the back of the sanctuary, on a pedestal, is our soundboard and tech equipment. The magic coming out of that small space, coupled with the talents and skill of our pastors and the team of volunteers managing the sound and tech equipment amazes me. From augmenting the music and microphones in the church to their fantastical pivot in 2020 when Covid hit pushing us into online church services, I honestly don't know what we would do without their wizardly wondrous skills.
On Sundays when I am unable to attend church in person, "Jammie Church" is always there for me. I watch online, noting how the team of volunteers ensures the hymn lyrics are in front of me, how they monitor the chats to ensure no one is having issues, how they change the angle of the cameras and switch between microphones during the service; I say an extra prayer Thanking God for the talent and skills and equipment making it possible for me to sit at home and still be part of the service. May St Mark always be open and welcoming to change and "new things", to improve life for the congregation and to spread the word of God.
Isaiah 43:18-19 says, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!
