Businesspersons Between Jobs: 40th Anniversary

BBJ (Businesspersons Between Jobs) recently celebrated 40 years of service to St. Louis area businesses and community and was recently featured in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The celebration began with a delicious breakfast provided by Men's Fellowship, the Stolls and Nina.

The organization which serves as a resource for individuals seeking employment and businesses seeking employees, began in 1972 under the leadership of Howard Gleason (left), Pastor Emeritus at St. Mark Presbyterian.  It continues today under the leadership of Roger Stoll (right) who is the Board President.

After some social time, an invocation by Pastor Susan Hayes, and recognition of key BBJ contributors, it was time for some fun:  BBJ Challenge.  Mike McCarty asked a question and members of teams A, B, or C had to answer.
Sample questions:  What is the name of the room where we meet? (Gleason Hall); Name three things to take with you to an interview (a smile, a pen, sample of your work); What local company begun in 1867 specializes in imaging, respiratory equipment and pharmaceuticals? (Mallinckrodt)  Each member of the winning team got a prize.

Other prizes were also given out in a raffle and a drawing of attendance prizes.  But the real winners are the thousands of people who followed this sign and walked through the door to a better tomorrow.
