St. Louis Zoo Overnight with The Saints

Genesis 1:21

"So God created the great sea monsters and every living creature that moves, of every kind, with which the waters swarm, and every winged bird of every kind. And God saw that it was good."

The weather may have been a bit chilly and rainy, but it couldn't dampen the spirits of the St. Mark Presbyterian Saints families who gathered at the St. Louis Zoo for an extraordinary adventure last Saturday- a night Under the Sea (Lions!)  After an evening led by Zoo staff which included classroom activities, listening for frog calls, a night hike to Big Cat Country, and being turned loose in the Herpetarium, we all bedded down under the glass tunnel of the Sea Lion habitat, and despite being packed in like sardines we enjoyed drifting off to sleep with these beautiful creatures gliding above, around, and even sleeping right next to us!

In the morning as we packed up, played with, and said "see you later" to all of our new friends, what I felt most was thanks and gratitude for  the folks who make the St. Louis Zoo such an awesome place, all the creatures that live there and share their lives with us humans, and especially to the Saints, a family of families living within, and nurtured by, our wonderful St. Mark church family!

Prayer
"Dear God, we are so humbled and grateful for the world that you have made for us to be part of, and ask that you give us the strength and wisdom to take care of it, and of each other, the way your Love takes care of us.  Amen"
