Worship Prayers

PRAYER FOR PREPARATION:  Holy God, we come to you for truth, that we might see clearly and that we might understand.  We come to you for comfort, that we might be sustained.  We come to you for challenge, that we might be reminded that our ways are not your ways and that we can change.  Amen.

CALL TO WORSHIP
We have made this place for you, O God, and gathered here to worship you.
Your presence floods into this sanctuary, filling us with your Spirit.
Your presence flows into each of our lives, O God.
Our hearts are filled with peace, our souls with song.
Even as we gather in your presence, O God, we acknowledge that your dwelling place is not limited by our construction.
Your mercy is not limited to our needs alone.
On the earth, in the earth, and above the earth we will meet you, O God.
In every place we can imagine, and in ways we cannot imagine, we will worship you.

   PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Holy God, we come before you, acknowledging our brokenness.  We have been broken by the ways of the world.  Greed and selfishness of others have hurt us; our own desires for wealth and success have harmed others.  Forgive us, O God, for not looking to your ways, for not seeing that our greatest need is to love you and to love our neighbors as ourselves. May we feel your love and care, and your forgiveness, as we are challenged to forgive and love one another.
