Worship Prayers for March 31

CENTERING PRAYER - St. Augustine of Hippo (AD 354-430)

O Lord, the house of my soul is narrow; enlarge it that you may enter in. It is ruinous, O repair it!
It displeases Your sight. I confess it, I know. But who shall cleanse it, to whom shall I cry but to you? Cleanse me from my secret faults, O Lord, and spare Your servant from strange sins.

CALL TO WORSHIP

Come to your Heavenly Father’s house those who have wandered away.
Restore us from our blindness and brokenness.
Come to your Heavenly Father’s house those who have remained but still feel empty.
Restore us from our self-righteousness and stagnation.
Come and see the arms of love reaching out to welcome you home.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Merciful God, we confess we strayed from your ways. Like the Prodigal Son, we wasted our inheritance. You gave us the earth for our home, but we squander its resources and hoard its bounty. You gave us neighbors to love, but we pursue selfish ambitions. You gave us the commandments that lead to a flourishing life, but we break your laws and forsake your love. Forgive our sin and bring us to repentance. Draw our wandering hearts back to you that we may find freedom in obedience to your love. We continue to pray through the name of Jesus Christ. (Silent Confession)
