Worship Prayers October 27

CENTERING PRAYER
Loving God, send your Spirit upon us in our worship today. Send your Spirit of love and peace and joy and mercy. Move us in our speaking and in our doing, in our dreaming and in our praying, as we seek to live out your hopes and dreams in our community and in our world. Amen.

CALL TO WORSHIP
One: The God of Zion is to be praised; so come now to offer prayer and worship.
Many: We come with joy to worship in the court of the Lord.
One: The God whom we worship is the God of our salvation, the hope of all the ends of the earth.
Many: All the earth sings for joy to our gracious God; we add our songs of worship and praise!

PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Eternal God, our judge and our redeemer, we confess we have tried to hide from you, for we have done wrong. We have lived for ourselves and apart from you. We have turned from our neighbors and refused to bear the burdens of others. We have ignored the pain of the world, and passed by the hungry, the poor, and the oppressed. In your great mercy forgive our sins and free us from selfishness, that we may choose your will and obey your commandments; through Jesus Christ our Savior.

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH – The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

PRAYER OF DEDICATION
Gracious God, who called us from death to life, we give ourselves and all that we have to you; and with the church through all ages we thank you for your saving love in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
