Order of worship July 24

 CENTERING PRAYER

Thank you, God of light, for waking me up this morning. May I live wholly for you this day, that whatever I say and do might help make a path for your coming reign. Open my eyes to your goodness and my heart to your children. I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

WELCOME and ANNOUNCEMENTS

CALL TO WORSHIP

Let us hear what the Lord our God speaks:

God speaks peace to God’s people, to the faithful,

To those who turn to God in their hearts.

Seeking peace, in word, in song, and in prayer, let us worship God.

† HYMN “Great is thy Faithfulness” Hymnal #39

PRAYER OF CONFESSION God, although we come to church on Sundays, we too often live the rest of the week as though you don’t exist. We act as though we created ourselves, with no connection to you, with no hope in the power of the Holy Spirit to guide us to see beyond our physical selves. Open our eyes and hearts to your constant presence in our everyday experiences. Teach us to pray, and give us the ability to learn how to be in relationship with you each and every day. (Silent Confession)

ASSURANCE OF GRACE

† SHARING THE PEACE OF CHRIST The peace of Christ be with you. And also with you.

†GLORY TO GOD Hymnal #582

† AFFIRMATION OF FAITH The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
