YOUTH COMMITTEE

We are pleased to present the Annual Youth Committee Report for the year 2023. Building on the foundations laid in the previous years, we are excited to share the progress, achievements, and ongoing initiatives of the St. Mark Youth Committee. 

• Continuation of Combined Middle and High School Groups: In 2023, our Middle and High school groups continued to thrive as a combined entity, fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie among our youth. Weekly bible study sessions held every Wednesday evening from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m., provided a space for exploring scripture and discussing its relevance to our daily lives. 

• Strong Return to In-Person Activities: Building on the momentum of the previous year, we are delighted to report in-person activities at levels almost equal to pre-COVID times. The youth broke free from screens, reengaged with one another, and participated in fellowship activities. 

• Adult Leadership Strengthened: In 2023, our adult leadership team solidified further, with three core leaders and a broader network of adults supporting youth ministry. The introduction of the "sponsor a youth meeting" initiative successfully brought in five additional adults willing to organize and lead special meetings, contributing to the wellrounded development of our youth. 

• Diverse Monthly Fellowship Activities: The last Sunday of each month continued to be a dedicated time for youth to gather either at the youth lounge or off-campus locations. This year, our youth enjoyed diverse activities. Some gatherings were hosted at the church, including cookie baking with P.W. Family activities such as Wild Lights at the Zoo were a big hit. 

• Active Participation in St. Mark Events: The youth actively participated in various events at St. Mark, including Fall Festival, Jerusalem Festival, Vacation Bible School, Bunny Breakfast, Souper Bowl of Caring, ABC sale, youth-led worship, and the Christmas cantata. 

• Six students and their mentors embarked on the confirmation journey. We meet weekly Sunday mornings from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. 

• Mission Focus: In 2023, our mission focus expanded beyond the local community. Youth embarked on a week-long mission trip to Puerto Rico. This initiative allowed us to broaden our horizons and make a positive impact beyond the walls of St. Mark. 

• Appreciation and Gratitude: We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the St. Mark community for its unwavering support and active involvement in the youth program. Your commitment has played a pivotal role in the success of our initiatives and the overall growth of our youth. We are optimistic about the future. The resilience and enthusiasm demonstrated by our youth, coupled with the continued support of St. Mark, give us confidence that the coming year will bring even greater accomplishments and opportunities for our youth.
