CENTERING PRAYER
God of all glory, we gather here today with the saints of every time and place to honor and praise your name. As you revealed your mercy and might to your faithful people in every age, so let us glimpse – even through tears – the mystery of your life-giving grace and the love that death cannot destroy; through Jesus Christ, Alpha and Omega. Amen.
CALL TO WORSHIP (Psalm 16)
I say to the LORD, “You are my Lord;
I have no good apart from you.”
We bless the LORD who gives us counsel;
in the night also my heart instructs me.
I keep the LORD always before me;
because God is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
Therefore, our hearts are glad, and our souls rejoice.
For you do not give us up to Sheol,
or let your faithful one see the Pit.
You show us the path of life.
In your presence there is fullness of joy;
in your right had are pleasures for evermore.
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Almighty Lord, you came from heaven to dwell among us, calling us to be your faithful people. Yet, we remain shrouded in sin – we hurt and disgrace ourselves; we abuse and destroy one another; we dishonor your holy name. Forgive us; unbind us and let us go so freely into each day. Be for us the resurrection and the life. (Silent Confession)
AFFIRMATION OF FAITH – The Apostles’ Creed
OFFERING
Invitation to the Offering
Who will enter the presence of the Lord? Who will stand in this holy place? Those who offer their whole lives to god – heart and mind and soul and strength – they will receive the blessing of the Lord. Let us give freely as we receive our offering.
Prayer after Offering
Let us pray… The earth belongs to you, O God, the world and all its people. For the blessings of this life and the gift of your salvation we give you thanks and praise. As you sought us out to save us, help us to see your face among our neighbors so all may know the wonder of your love; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
