Worship Prayers March 2

CENTERING PRAYER

Holy God, present in our midst yet beyond all comprehension, by your light, we see light; by your healing, we are made whole; by your mercy, we know your greatness. Turn your gaze upon our weakness and show us the way of your love. We pray this through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

CALL TO WORSHIP (Psalm 99)

“The LORD is king; let the people tremble.”

The LORD is enthroned upon the cherubim;

let the earth shake…

Proclaim the greatness of the LORD

and worship upon God’s holy hill;

For the LORD our God is the Holy One.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Merciful and gracious God, we bow before your unending compassion, the measure of our falling short. We do not love as you command. We do not speak truly. We do not care for creation, including ourselves, according to your will. What we intend, we do not pursue; what we mean to avoid, we embrace. Help us to know the mind of Christ, that in all thoughts, words, and deeds, our lives might come to honor you. (Silent Confession)

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH – WCF SC Q1

Q. What is our chief end?

A. Our chief end is to glorify God and to enjoy God forever.

OFFERING

Invitation to the Offering

We serve the LORD with freedom; we worship God with joy. In freedom and in joy, let us present the offerings of our lives to the LORD.

Prayer after Offering

Let us pray. Holy are you, O LORD! We praise your great and awesome name. Use us, and these our gifts, in your service, to establish justice, righteousness, and equity, all for the good of your people and the glory of your eternal realm. Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

To you, O Lord, we pray.

Answer us with mercy.

Almighty, all-merciful God,

lover of justice and giver of peace,

Hear our prayer:

For your people Israel,

for the church of Jesus Christ,

and for all who seek your face.

For leaders and elders

that they will abide by your commandments.

For the earth that you have made,

trembling for redemption and re-creation.

For those who are tormented

by the demons of illness, addiction, and grief.

Let our lives and our world

be transfigured by your glory

and transformed by your love;

in the name of Jesus Christ,

your chosen one, our Lord.

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
forever. Amen.
