Extraordinary Worship in Ordinary

Summertime, and the living is easy . . . but that doesn’t mean you should stop coming to church.

Though this time on the church calendar is known as “ordinary,” it provides us the opportunity to gather and celebrate the extraordinary sacredness of God’s activity in our life.

Again this summer, the St. Mark Presbyterian session has voted to combine the two Sunday morning worship services to form one worship service at 9:30 a.m. The summer worship schedule will begin Memorial Day Weekend (May 29) and go through August 8. The Saturday night service remains the same at 5 in Fellowship Hall.

These Sunday summer worship services will emphasize God’s extraordinary transformation of “ordinary” people and events. Come hear Haitian missionaries, see God’s transformational power in the lives of our youth as they tell their Mission trip experiences, hear our Vacation Bible School singers and other musicians from our congregation make a joyful noise to the Lord. This is the perfect time to renew relationships and wor-ship with friends who attend the “other” service, find spiritual nourishment through powerful preaching and gathering at the Lord’s Table (so much better for you than hot dogs). And also get a peek at the extraordinary future God is creating at St. Mark when the Mission Study Team presents their report to the congregation.

Children’s Ministries Summer Program convenes also on May 29 each Sunday after Time with Children during church. The classes will be combined during the summer using the new PCUSA curriculum, Growing in Grace and Gratitude. If you wish to teach during the summer months, a sign-up sheet is available outside of the Children’s Ministries Office. The regular class schedule will reconvene on August 14.

The time may be ordinary, but God is extraordinary.

Come see, hear, and taste what extraordinary things God is doing in our ordinary world at Sunday Summer worship at 9:30 am or Saturdays at 5 pm.
