Presbyterian Women sponsors a Book Club that meets once a month (usually the 4th Wednesday at 9:30 AM). We read fiction, non-fiction, young adult, classics, historical, humorous, memoirs---all sorts of books (I have not been able to convince anyone to read science fiction or post-apocalyptic, though) For example we have read The Book Thief, 19th Wife, The Good Earth, Tender Bar, Whistling Season, Winter's Bone, Moonflower in 2009-2010.
We have also read Shanghai Girls, The Help, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, Finding Nouf, Half-broken Horses, Cutting for Stone.
With such a variety of books, we always have a lively discussion. In 2011-12, we read In the Garden of the Beast, Caleb's Crossing, The Art of Racing in the Rain, Dreams of Joy, Stiff, Molokai, Still Alice, Sky Burial, The Age of Broken Lives.
So, what are we reading now? January 23, we will be reading another of Lisa See's books On Gold Mountain. But to see a list of our books for this year, go to the St. Mark Presbyterian Web-site or Click here and scroll to the bottom of the page.
Join us (even if you haven't read or finished the book) for discussion, coffee and treats.
