Worship Prayers Sept. 23

CENTERING PRAYER  Thank you, God, for this good night and day, for time to sleep and wake, for dark and light, for silence and noise, for stillness and movement, for my body, mind, and heart.  Give me the strength today to bear my cross with patience so that whomever I meet will find a moment of calm in my presence because of you.  I pray this in Jesus’ name.  Amen.

CALL TO WORSHIP
Give thanks to the Lord, for God is good.
        God’s steadfast love endures forever.
The last are first in the realm of God;
        the least are welcomed in Jesus’ name.
Let us all worship God together.

   PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Merciful God, we confess we have not followed your way.  We sow the seeds of conflict while you seek the harvest of peace.  We argue about who is the greatest while you welcome in the least and last.  Forgive us, God of grace.  Draw near to us this day with the wisdom of your Word, and teach us how to serve you.  We continue to pray through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Silent Confession)
