Deacons

“The opportunity for service and caring for

God’s people is great. Through the example set by Jesus Christ, the deacons continually find ways to mobilize the strengths and resources of the congregation. In doing so, through faith, the deacons lead the congregation to accomplish tasks that serve the greater congregation and community.” – St. Mark Board of Deacons Mission Statement

To accomplish and fulfill our mission, the Board of Deacons lead ten standing committees and four major fundraising events. As elected by the congregation, the 2018 Board of Deacons was composed of seventeen deacons who serve three-year terms and a youth deacon who serves a one-year term.

During 2018, the deacons raised and distributed approximately $50,000 to mission partners as well as coordinated and participated in many hundreds of service hours to the Caregiving and Stephen Ministries as well as to mission partners and programs summarized below. The committee reports that follow are high level summaries of the activities of the highly engaged 2018 Board of Deacons. Our work is made possible by the St. Mark congregation’s and staff’s active involvement, generous donations, and prayers of support.
