Pastor Burgess Message: If the Way be Clear

I pray this message finds each of you doing well and staying safe as we make our way through this
global pandemic. We are doing our best at St. Mark to stay connected with all of our members and neighbors. This is normally the busiest season in the church as we conclude our Lenten journey with all of our Holy Week activities. Unfortunately, there will be no Bunny Breakfast or Jerusalem Festival this year because of social distancing. We will still provide online services for Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, and Easter Sunday.

If you ever attended a presbytery service, you might have heard the phrase, “If the way be clear.” These simple words convey a deeper meaning. Simply stated, it means we support a motion ahead of time, but we know there are additional approvals needed from others in the future to make it a reality. We make plans, but other groups (and forces) have the final say. I’ve thought a lot about the phrase over the past week as we all adjust to a new temporary reality.

We are still making plans to be together during the Easter season “if the way be clear.” We have contingencies in the works in case this pandemic lingers and we must be apart. In the meantime, I encourage you to stay in touch with St. Mark as we strive to connect with you.
We are providing periodic updates on our website: www.discoverstmark.org.
We have links for all Sunday activities including those for children.  https://www.discoverstmark.org/worship/st-mark-online/
We are publishing a daily video devotion on the church’s Facebook page and Facebook bulletin board: https:// www.facebook.com/ profile.php? id=1670779149805741&ref=b r_rs
We are sending a weekly update through the mail for those who do not have email access.
We are still able to process checks in the church office, and you can give online at https:// www.discoverstmark.org/ giving/make-an-on-linedonation-to-st-mark/

Please let us know how we can support you in the coming weeks. We are always here for you even as we must remain socially distant. I hope to see you soon, if the way be clear. You will be in my prayers until that wonderful day.

In Hope and Confidence,
Pastor Dave
