Red Cross Needs Your Help

As of  April 24, 2020  nearly 1,231 blood drives for our Region have been canceled because of COVID-19 concerns.  These cancellations resulted in 32,000 fewer blood donations.

St. Mark (601 Claymont, Ballwin MO) has again answered the call to hold blood drives on Thursday, May 21 & Friday, May 22 from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. in Gleason Hall.  Entry to Gleason Hall is only through the solid double doors by the Kitchen.  During a pandemic it would be nice to deal with only one crisis at a time, yet the need for blood is constant.  Many people with chronic blood-related diseases, cancer, life-saving surgeries must have blood transfusions.  You are desperately needed. New donors are welcome. Please sign-up today by going to http://www.redcrossblood.org/Donate/Blood and enter:  Saintmarkpres.

The Red Cross is taking every known precaution to ensure the highest standards of safety & infection control are followed.   In accordance with updated CDC guidelines as of April 24, 2020, donors are still asked to wear their own face mask/covering that covers both their nose & mouth.  If you do not have a mask the Red Cross will provide one.  Upon arrival your temperature will be taken.  If it is 99.6 or over you will be asked to leave.  Guests will not be allowed nor will walk-ins be accepted in order to keep Blood Drive staff & donors safe.  Scheduled appointments are necessary to help manage donor flow & social distancing.

To speed the check-in process along, on the morning of the Blood Drive, please go to www.redcrossblood.org & complete “RapidPass”.  Once completed save to your smartphone or print the page with the barcode & bring with you.

We know that people are worried about being exposed to the COVID -19 virus but many are not aware of what the American Red Cross is doing at blood drives to protect donors, volunteers and staff. Please review the video link below.  The speaker is Wilma McGlothlin, Account Manager, American Red Cross, Missouri-Illinois Region Blood Services.Click here for the video.
