Mission Monday: Meet the Deacons

Mondays for the past few weeks have been devoted to the Missions which St. Mark supports.  We have two groups which focus on missions:  Mission Committee and Deacons.  The Deacons are called, elected and serve for three years.  Their mission statement reads:
The opportunity for service and caring for God's people is great.  Through the example set by Jesus Christ, the Deacons continually find ways to mobilize the strengths resources of the congregation.  In so  doing, through faith, Deacons lead the congregation to accomplish tasks that serve the greater congregation and community.
The Deacons have 9 committees and 3 fund-raisers which help them to accomplish and fulfill their mission: Caregiving/Stephen Ministry, Circle of Concern, Clothing, Communion, Flowers, Health and Wellness, Presbyterians for Earth Care, Shelter, Transportation, ABC Sale, Golf Tournament, Holiday House Tour.
The Deacons have prepared a tri-fold brochure outlining their Community Outreach and committees, but you can also click on the links above or look to the right to find out more about their work.

Although Deacons specialize in local missions and the Mission Committee on foreign missions, both the Deacons and the Mission Committee work jointly on mission work trips in this country.  If you are interested in working with one of these groups, please consult with one of the pastors.
