Greg Nuckolls, our fellow church member and professionally, a graphic designer, has created a new
logo (emblem, symbol, trademark) that will say 'St. Mark' in picture form. He was requested to do this volunteer work by the church leadership as St. Mark builds upon its 50 year history.
The logo will always contain the image of the cross although the written words attached, i.e. address, website, and/or PC(USA), may vary. The design is especially beautiful in its multi-color version.
Greg's design statement explains the meanings embedded in this new look:
"When I was asked to develop the new logo for our church, one of the first things I did was look at all of the elements that make St. Mark recognizable. Without a doubt, one of the most beautiful parts of our physical church building is our stained glass piece in the sanctuary showing the glowing sun emanating from the cross. This image was the basis of St. Mark’s previous logo, and has been a part of the church for many years. The rising sun is one of the most beautiful things to be seen on earth. It brings with it the promise of a new day, a new beginning, and new life. It is this hope and this new beginning that we capture within the new logo."
The logo has also been developed for use both within and outside of the church. Inside, the line below the church name is a reminder of our beautifully redeveloped website, www.DiscoverStMark.org. Outside of the church, it reminds those interested in who and where we are in Ballwin Missouri as members of the PC(USA).
Our new identity is a vibrant, modern emblem for who we are as a church and a reminder that we are always looking forward to the future following the light of Christ."
