Worship from Nov. 23

PRAYER IN PREPARATION FOR WORSHIP:  Touch us, O God, through the ministry of melody,
Sean Butler, Parish Associate
through the sounds and senses of song, through the wordless wonder which fills our souls with heaven, through the spirit which teases our feet to dance and causes our hearts to overflow, that we might be absorbed in the mystery and magic of music, and that in this moment of oneness our lives will be bonded to each other and to you.  Amen
CALL TO WORSHIP (from Psalm 100)
Leader:        Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth.
People:       Worship the Lord with gladness; come into God’s presence with singing.  Know that          the Lord is God.
Leader:        It is God that made us, and we are God’s; we are God’s people, and the sheep of God’s pasture.
People:       Enter God’s gates with thanksgiving, and God’s courts with praise.  Give thanks to God, bless God’s name.
All:               For the Lord is good; God’s steadfast love endures forever, and God’s faithfulness to all generations. Amen.
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Holy God, we confess that we have not lived in true thankfulness.  We have honored you with our words, but we have denied you with our actions.  We have not pursued the way of Christ, who took the form of a servant, but have acted with selfish ambition to have ourselves at the head of the table.  We have put our interests before all others and have not regarded them or you in humility.
Forgive us our selfish arrogance, awaken our hearts to sincere thanksgiving, and enable us to will and to work for the good harvest of your kingdom, through Jesus Christ, our Lord.  Amen.
