Worship Prayers for Aug. 30

THE TIME OF CENTERING:  God of each new day:  We come in worship seeking again to hear the good news of your unceasing love.  May that love permeate every aspect of our living.  Grant that our worship may renew us, and that our lives may participate in the renewal of your world.  We ask this as your people, and because you are our God.  Amen 

CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader:        Let us meet God in this Gathering.

People:       We gather to praise God, to offer our hopes, to hear again God’s call, to strengthen our faith.

Leader:        God calls us to honor ALL persons, be kind to our neighbors, and praise God’s holy name.

ALL:            Let us worship God

 

   PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Faithful God, we confess that we have not always been faithful to you.  Your requirements of us have been to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with you.  Yet, we conform to the standards of our world, and forget the demands of your call to us.  We expect others to be kind to us but too often neglect those who may be different than us, those who don’t quite fit into our scheme of things.  You ask us to be humble and yet we are such a proud people.  Humble us this day, O God, and remind us again of your steadfast love and faithfulness.  Give us the strength we need to do your holy will.  Through Christ, Amen.
