Worship Prayers from Oct. 4

Pastor Jim, Saturday Evening

CALL TO WORSHIP
All around us, the universe sings of God’s creative love.
We gather as God’s people, seeking that love which no one else can offer.
Every day, the sun bears witness to God’s hope; every night, the stars whisper of God’s peace.
We gather as God’s people, needing peace in a warring world, searching for hope in the          midst of despair.
The breath of the wind carries God’s grace, the mountains echo God’s glory.
We gather as God’s people, from the north and south, from the east and west, to sit at       the joyful feast.
D. Schiro and Pastor Gary, Sunday Morning

   PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Restore us, O God of hosts; let your face shine, that we may be saved.  You brought a vine out of the land of slavery.  You cleared ground for it; it took deep root and filled the land.  The mountains were covered by its shade, the mighty cedars with its branches; it sent out its branches to the sea, and its shoots to the river.  But we have not yet yielded the good fruit you expected or desired.  We are overgrown with sin, choked with violence and  injustice. Forgive us; turn again, O God of hosts; look down from heaven and see; have regard for this vine, the stock of your right hand planted.  Amen.
