Worship Prayers from Sept. 27

 PRAYER IN PREPARATION 

Teach us, good Lord, to serve you as you deserve; to give and not to count the cost; to show kindness and not seek to find fault in one another, to toil and not to seek for rest; to labor and not to ask for any reward, save that of knowing that we do your will; through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

CALL TO WORSHIP

How good it is to come into God’s house!  What joy it is to sing the Lord’s praise!

         Our souls thirst for the living God.  Our hearts long for truth and peace.

Happy are those whose strength is in God.  Blessed are all who trust in the Lord.

         Jesus opens our ears to God’s Word.  He releases our tongues in praise.

Friend and stranger are welcome here.

         All of God’s children are welcome home.

   PRAYER OF CONFESSION

O Holy God, you call to us.  You bring us together in prayer and praise.  You bid us to rest in your house, trust in your goodness, and dwell in your presence.  But we are a restless people.  We miss the signs of your presence, and are blind to your grace.  We have our own paths to follow and trust no one but ourselves.  We are lost, Holy God.  We are weary and afraid, and we cannot find our way home.  Forgive our foolishness, awaken us to your presence, restore us to the joy of your salvation.  Amen.
