Christmas Tea

For the past few years, the Deacons at St. Mark Presbyterian have hosted a Christmas Tea benefitting Lydia's House for abused women and their children.  The tables each have a hostess who has decorated the table---often with family treasures.

This event is held in St. Mark's Narthex which at one time was our sanctuary---a beautiful open space which easily holds 15 tables.

The table above is called "A Christmas in Russia" with Khokhloma tableware, Matryoshka dolls and Palekh boxes.
There is always a wonderful combination of tables: the traditional Christmas and some which were remembering family members.  The floral table was in remembrance of an aunt and uncle who owned a nursery selling tulips and flowers.

Polish pottery from Bleeslawiec Poland with its beautiful mix of patterns along with a collection of nativity scenes.

One hostess even created a beautiful beach-themed table with shells she gathered in October.
Of course we did have tea with sweets and savories, but our speaker Rev. Carolyn Held reminded us of the women and children who would benefit from the event through Lydia's House.  Click here for more information on this mission.
