In times of crisis, St. Mark is again fortunate to witness the best of humanity as many members rolled up a sleeve to help those in need by donating their blood on May 21st and May 22nd. Fifty-nine units of blood were collected and eight first time donors signed up. One first time donor was the 16 year old son of a frequent donor. He stated that “he wanted to give back to the community like he has seen his mother do so many times”.
Always remember that your donation helps patients undergoing emergency and lifesaving surgeries, new mothers and children facing complications from childbirth, and those fighting injury and illness. The Red Cross and the Deacon’s Health and Wellness Committee appreciate your willingness to come give blood and share your health with the most vulnerable among us during these difficult times. The coronavirus pandemic has caused many uncertainties in our world, but patients and the Red Cross are thankful that we could count on you to answer the call to help.
