From Psalm 85:8-9
One: The Lord be with you.
MANY: And also with you.
One: Let us hear what God the Lord speaks.
MANY: For God speaks peace.
One: To the saints of the Lord, to those who turn to God in their hearts.
MANY: Surely salvation is at hand for those who honor God.
Advent Prayer In Unison
God of the Covenant, we look forward to the day of Christ, to a world knowing your shalom. Do we stand on the banks of the Jordan and hear your call to make ready for this Christ? Or do we retreat to our places of power, deaf to the cries of your world? Open our hearts, Lord; help us prepare for your coming. Empower us to your ministry, that this world may know the justice, freedom, and well-being of your promised peace. Amen.

And ransom captive Israel,
