Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus

With the advent of Advent last weekend, we began singing hymns that many of us have sung for decades.  Christmas hymns, especially, transport us to another place and time like a thread connecting the past to the present.

One of the hymns we sang last weekend at St. Mark Presbyterian, took me back to my Methodist past when it seemed that half of our hymns were by Charles Wesley, brother of John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist church.

Here is a Youtube version using the same Welsh melody "Hyfrydol" which we used.  There are a few more verses than in our hymnal, but this includes the words so you can sing along.

Happy Advent of Advent!
