Worship Prayers for Nov. 8

CALL TO WORSHIP
The kingdom of God is at hand.
We want to enter this kingdom.
The mercy of God is made known.
We shall love the Lord God with all our being.
The grace of God is abundant for all.
Let us worship the One who came to serve, so we may serve the world.
   PRAYER OF CONFESSION
O God, we claim to know your commandments, and we are sure that we follow them. However, nothing we do or say can be hidden from you.  You see how we stumble, weighed down by all the “stuff” that keeps us from following Jesus.  We cannot let go of the things we think we need or what we think is important.  We do not follow you with all our hearts, our minds, our strength.  We refrain from giving our whole selves to you.  Forgive us O God, for our lack of commitment, for our focus on material things instead of on your will for us.  As you we let go of all that might hold us back, give us the trust to follow Jesus Christ into the abundant life he offers each of us.  Amen.
