Worship Prayers Nov. 1

PRAYER IN PREPARTION:  O God, when we realize how blessed we are, we can sing of your surprising grace and your steadfast presence to a world that has grown deaf from the noise of empty clichés.  When we remember your love, which has done wonderful things, we can rejoice in your hope.  When we remember your  call, plans formed of old, faithful and sure, we can be a refuge to the poor and the needy in distress.  We wait upon you, O Lord of hosts, we are glad and rejoice in your saving grace.  Amen.
CALL TO WORSHIP
There will be a new heaven and a new earth;
         We are waiting for the reign of God.
The home of God will be among us;
         We are preparing for the reign God.
God will wipe away every tear from our eye;
         We are expecting the reign of God.
The mighty and glorious One is coming, the Lord for whom we are waiting.
         Let us be glad and rejoice!
   PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Almighty and loving God, you hold us eternally in your care.  You reveal to us a future free of death and pain.  You promise to wipe away every tear. Forgive us when we cannot believe your words.  Forgive us when our despair turns to cynicism, and cynicism to resignation. When our way is shrouded, forgive our lack of imagination and faith.  You who make all things new, remake us.  Let us drink from your cup of blessing and banquet among your saints; let your grace fill us that we may be glad and rejoice and proclaim your glory.  Amen.
